Artist's Statement
Artists create worlds where their imaginations can dwell; places they wish to share with others. I believe painting is the process of visual imagination made physical in the language of paint. My paintings and drawings grow out of a variety of sources. Imagining events in history, which inhabit my memory, more as fiction than fact and from the morality we begin to learn as children such as traditional nursery rhymes. I attempt to remember through paint how I imagined these things and capture these moments in a vocabulary of image, color, and texture to create a uniquely animate experience.
